2020 - Thematic Pathway Review - Accreditation
WSCUC 2020
Thematic Pathway for Reaffirmation
The Naval Postgraduate School is institutionally accredited, as required by Title X, by WASC Senior College and University Commission. Because of the high quality of its last accreditation results in 2010, NPS was chosen as part of a select group of institutions, to "Pioneer" a new method of reaffirmation known as the Thematic Pathway for Reaffirmation (TPR).
With TPR, the institution can focus its narrative on major initiatives central to campus life instead of having to cover all aspects of the campus in equal depth and breadth. The overarching theme that defined NPS effort through the accreditation cycle was: Pursuing Graduate Education Excellence. We further defined three subthemes, each with a targeted focus:
-
Curriculum 2020: Strategically Redesigning the Curricula
-
Classroom 2020: Enhancing Teaching and Learning
-
Colleague 2020: Strengthening the Faculty
Faculty, staff, and students participating on the Accreditation Steering Committee worked with other members of the campus community to collect evidence and write a narrative summary related to each theme. In addition to our narrative, we complete two worksheets--the first demonstrated NPS' compliance with the Four Standards of Accreditation and the second articulated the Educational Effectiveness Indicators all degree programs have adopted.
