Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Counsel Kath Ashton was recognized with the Superior Civilian Service Award, Oct. 22, signed jointly by university President retired Vice Adm. Ann E. Rondeau and the Principal Deputy General Counsel of the Navy Garrett L. Ressing. The award is the second Superior Civilian Service Award presented to Ashton during her tenure as NPS Counsel.
The award recognizes Ashton’s contributions to NPS leadership’s development of the institution’s “Sailing Directions,” providing critical expertise in several areas to empower the university to better accomplish its unique mission. In addition, Ashton’s expertise and teamed efforts provided the university with much-needed relief from a Navy policy on reimbursable work, and was critical to the submission of multiple recent legislative proposals.
Ashton retires from the university, October 31.
