The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Protocol Office is a team of civilian, officers, and enlisted personnel responsible for providing a wide range of protocol duties in support of the NPS President. The Protocol Office is actively engaged in planning, coordinating, and implementing every aspect of visits from elected officials, appointed federal officials, U.S. military flag/general officers (O-7 and above), Senior Executive Service members, and international military flag/general officers. The Protocol Office provides support for social functions sponsored by the President and is involved in providing protocol expertise for military ceremonies. The Protocol Office offers guidance to departments, centers, and institutes hosting distinguished visitors for conferences, lectures, events, and executive level courses and programs.
Reserved Parking Requests for NPS Visitors
Requests for temporary reserved parking should be made a minimum of two (2) working days in advance of the needed date.
Availability of reserved parking spaces is on a “first come-first served” basis. There are 18 reserved parking spaces located in Lot A (the parking lot facing the front of Herrmann Hall).
Each conference/event is allowed a maximum of three (3) reserved parking spaces.
If reserved parking is approved, the Protocol Office will place a reserved parking permit with the visitor's name and requested dates in the reserved parking post stationed at the front of each parking space.

VIP Billeting Requests
The Navy Gateway Inns & Suites offers Distinguished Visitor Quarters (DVQs) to serve flag/general officers (all O-7 and above), O-6 on orders/official business, and SES level personnel. Priority is given to VIPs on official business followed by leisure travel. To make a reservation, please contact the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites at 831-920-0974 (ext.5).
Separately, the Protocol Office manages reservations for two (2) Distinguished Visitor Quarters (DVQs) reserved for active duty O-9 and O-10 on official business.
